CONCORD CAN: Most followers
of DFAL boys basketball this season felt that the last team
standing in the way of Alhambra and a league championship was Mt.
Diablo.
Few considered Concord a threat.
Except, of course, the Minutemen.
"Our kids believed," Concord coach Jim
Bradshaw said after his team upset the Bulldogs 46-42 at Alhambra on
Friday. "We've gone through ups and downs this year, and it was really a
matter of these kids believing in themselves for four quarters."
Matt Andreoli scored a game-high
15 points for a Concord team which led at halftime, but needed to fight
back from a six-point, third-quarter deficit.
The upset left both Alhambra and
Campolindo tied for first.
If the team finish the season tied for
first, they will both be considered co-champions. However, Alhambra will
earn the automatic playoff berth as a result of beating the Cougars on
Feb. 8.
